Sometimes I forget that there is a beginning to delving into self-improvement, self-love, metaphysical, and/or woo-woo stuff (as some like to call it ;-) ) So I'm going to go back to some basics here (just like my Crystal Class!) for the new-to-the-scene or just a refresher.
What are the chakras? In Sanskrit chakra means wheel or disc. There are seven main chakras, or energy centers, in our spiritual body which resides in our physical body. These seven major “wheels” or energy centers essentially run along our center from the base of our spine to the top of our head.
Chakras are responsible for our mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical functions.
Where are the seven major chakras located?
Root or Base Chakra (1st Chakra) – located at the base of the spine.
Sacral Chakra (2nd Chakra) – located about 2 inches below the belly button.
Solar Plexus Chakra (3rd Chakra) – located about 3 inches above the belly button.
Heart Chakra (4th Chakra) – located in the center of the chest.
Throat Chakra (5th Chakra) – located at the throat.
Third Eye Chakra (6th Chakra) – located in the center of the brow between the eyebrows.
Crown Chakra (7th Chakra) – located at the top of the head.
What does it feel like when your chakras are balanced? When chakras are balanced the energy flows freely through all your chakras from the crown to your feet. You feel balanced, peaceful, calm and have little to no anxiety. You can handle stressful situations with ease.
How do you know if your chakras are out of balance or blocked? You may feel like something is just “off”, kind of down or just blah, even depression or anxiety if your chakras are not balanced.
When chakras become blocked or muddied your mood often reflects that. Negative emotions and feelings become prevalent and your energy level diminishes. Over time this can even cause severe emotional or physical issues.
Chakras that are too open are out of balance as well and can cause energy imbalance and over-sensitivity. Often there is a loss of grounding if chakras are too open. The key here is “balance”.
Can anyone achieve balanced chakras? Yes! Anyone with the awareness, knowledge and desire to practice can balance their chakras.
How can chakras be balanced? Chakras can be balanced in a variety of ways. You can balance them yourself or someone else can balance them for you. This is a very relaxing option that I highly recommend.
A few methods of chakra balancing are:
Crystal therapy – Appropriate crystals are placed on and around the chakras.
Reiki – a qualified practitioner senses and balances the energy in your chakras.
Dowsing – using a pendulum to determine the current condition of each chakra and then balancing each if needed. I do this as part of my Crystal Therapy Sessions and teach it in my Basics of Crystal Therapy Class.
Meditation – there are many guided meditations that can be used to help you visualize and balance each chakra.
Sound Therapy – the use of sound specifically associated with the vibration of each chakra.
Music – binaural and isochronic beats are types of tones that can be used to balance chakras.
Color Light Therapy – this method uses colors associated with each chakra, and in the type I am referring to, also uses a quartz crystal which focuses the color and crystal energy on each chakra. I will be offering this very soon! Email me or check my website at www.CherriseBoucher.com
